The DADI Air Motor is a slow speed, moderate torque motor assembly which has been developed to drill directional oil and gas wells and other directional boreholes with conventional air hammers. The assembly rotates the hammer, taking the place of drill pipe rotation imparted by the rig. This allows the bent sub in our assembly to steer and build angle.
The DADI motor has a unique design and is practically vibration free. Shock measurements obtained while drilling with the AIRR 6, a 6” hammer, and a 6 ¼” bit showed shock values were typically below 8 G’s in the X, Y, and Z directions. Our initial drilling with this assembly has demonstrated no adverse effects on EM or wire line measurement tools.
